This next part past the registration room is completely optional, but well worth your time if you want to learn more about the history and lore behind Starfield. Note that you will need to be clear of any UC Bounty before you can do so! If you've somehow run afoul of the law recently, you can find a Bounty Self-Service Kiosk by the Viewport near the landing pads to pay off any fines. Interact with one to view the Enlistment Agreement, and cycle through the pages before clicking on the "Agree" button. The first room in the Orientation Hall holds several terminals along some kiosks. When you decide the time is right, accept Commander Tuala's offer, and he'll direct you to the nearby elevator to head to the Orientation Hall on a lower level. You can also learn about the perks of having a UC Citizenship that working for Vanguard offers - which includes a cash payout, discounts at UC Shops, and the ability to purchase a home for yourself right here in New Atlantis! When speaking with Command Tuala, you can ask him what Vanguard work is like: running the gamut between helping in combat, repairs, and even just hauling cargo. He will offer to sign you up then, but you can also speak to him at any other time should you wish to join at a later time. On the right side of the lobby, you'll find Commander John Tuala - who you will actually meet as part of the second Main Quest with Sarah Morgan, The Old Neighborhood. This mission begins at the main MAST Building in the center of New Atlantis, the very tall building that you can't miss.
